Sauk County, Wis— Public Health Sauk County is happy to announce the recipients of the 2025 Public Health Excellence Awards, a new recognition program celebrating our community's health champions. These awards recognize the people and organizations working to improve the health and well-being of everyone in Sauk County.

Award Recipients:

Sauk County, Wis— Sauk County is currently accepting proposals to expand access to sober living for residents with opioid use disorder. Funding for this project comes from the National Opioid Settlement that was reached in February 2022. Sauk County received an initial settlement and gathered community input on opioid crisis response. Following feedback and data that prioritized housing options for people in recovery from opioid use disorder, the County has made available $300,000 in settlement funds for this purpose.

(Reedsburg, WI) - An underage customer walks into a local bar or store and tries to buy alcohol with no identification or a fake ID. Do local retailers sell to youth? This test is called an alcohol age compliance check, and these checks have been proven to reduce sales of alcohol to minors.

Sauk County, Wis- On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10 AM - 4 PM, Sauk County will host a free community event at Devil’s Lake State Park. The event is family-friendly, alcohol and drug-free, and is open to all Sauk County residents. The event will be held on the South Shore of Devil’s Lake State Park in the White Oak shelter.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County invites community members to partner in tackling the top three health priorities identified in the 2024 Community Health Assessment: housing, mental health, and substance use. Together, through the Community Health Improvement Plan, the department and community members will work on meaningful strategies to create a healthier, stronger Sauk County.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County invites nominations for the 2025 Public Health Excellence Awards, a new recognition program for the community. These awards honor people and groups who help improve the health and well-being of Sauk County residents and visitors.

Sauk County, Wis- About 760 third-grade students learned important safety skills during this year's Rural Safety Day Camp, held May 6-8 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds. Public Health Sauk County organizes the three-day event each year, featuring learning stations and presentations on ten different safety topics.

Sauk County, Wis- National Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 26. Local law enforcement is working with community partners to host 4 drug take back sites in Sauk County:

• Sauk County Sheriff’s Department from 8am – 12pm
• Sauk Prairie Police Department from 9am – 12pm
• Spring Green Police Department from 10am – 2pm
• Plain Municipal Office from 10am – 2pm

Sauk County, Wis- The Sauk County Partnership for Prevention Coalition will host the Building a Healthier Sauk County: Youth Substance Use Prevention Summit on May 15, 2025 in Lake Delton. Community members, parents, educators, law enforcement, social services, prevention specialists, and healthcare professionals are invited to attend to develop comprehensive strategies to reduce youth substance use in Sauk County communities.

Sauk County, Wis- A fun and delicious event will bring the community together for a great cause on Saturday, April 5th from 11am to 2pm at the Reedsburg VFW. The Support People and Empower Recovery (SUPER) coalition is hosting a Soup and Chili Cookoff in support of the WisHope Sauk County Recovery Community Center. WisHope is a nonprofit that supports individuals on their recovery journey from substance use.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County invites everyone to attend its Public Health Showcase on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The event will be held on the 3rd floor of the West Square Building in Baraboo, in the hallway outside the Health Department.

Sauk County, Wis- Public Health Sauk County has partnered with the Clinton Foundation to install Overdose Aid Kits in the North Freedom community at Highlander Laundry and the North Freedom Community Center.

Sauk County, Wis- The Sauk County Nurse-Family Partnership® program is excited to announce the program's expansion to serve more families and children. The program is now available for qualifying parents who already have children and are expecting another baby. This is a major change for the program, which previously only served first-time expecting parents before their third trimester began.
