Paying Taxes

**First installment tax payments are due to the local treasurer by January 31. Please contact your local treasurer for first installment payment options. The County Treasurer collects second installment & delinquent taxes.

If you choose to pay your taxes in installments, you must pay each installment on or before 5 working days after the due date or the TOTAL amount of your remaining unpaid taxes will be delinquent and subject to interest & penalty.

Visit the Sauk County Ascent Land Records System (ALRS) to pay taxes online for second installment and delinquent taxes.

The convenience fees to pay online are as follows (charged by MSB):

Credit Card             2.50% of the amount of the transaction

Debit Card              $2.95 flat fee per transaction

Electronic Check    $1.50 per transaction (up to $10,000)

NOTE: There are a few municipalities that have contracted with MSB to allow property owners to pay their first installment online using the ALRS system via the Sauk County Website. The same fees will apply.

Those municipalities are:

Town of Delton
Town of Fairfield
Town of Greenfield
Town of Sumpter

Delinquent Payments Accrue Interest

All delinquent balances will accrue 1.5% interest & penalty on the 1st of each month until paid in full.  Please visit the Pay the Treasurer's Office page for information regarding payment options.

 

WISCONSIN HELP FOR HOMEOWNERS

Wisconsin Help for Homeowners (WHH) is a new statewide program that can help with overdue bills like mortgage payments, property taxes, and utilities. The program is available to Wisconsin homeowners with overdue housing-related bills, both with and without a mortgage, who meet income and other eligibility requirements, and have experienced a qualified economic hardship since January 21, 2020.
