Public Health Reports:

Impact of Housing Instability on Birth Outcomes Among Sauk County NFP/PNCC Clients, June 2026

PHSC, in partnership with Flourish and Thrive Labs, has launched an innovative effort to better understand how housing instability affects maternal and child health among families served by the Nurse Family Partnership and Prenatal Care Coordination programs. By implementing a new systems‑level metric, PHSC found that pregnant clients experiencing housing instability—defined as moving twice or more in one year—were significantly more likely to have preterm or early‑term births, require C‑sections, have infants admitted to the NICU, and face extended maternal hospital stays. These early results underscore housing instability as a critical social determinant of health in our community. Read the full report to explore detailed findings and learn how PHSC is using data-driven approaches to drive meaningful change in maternal and child health.

How Do Sauk County Residents Get Health Information?, June 2024

In 2024, PHSC contracted with the Survey Research Center at the University of WI-River Falls to conduct a survey gauging the opinions of Sauk County residents on how they gather information on public health issues and on the functions of Public Health Sauk County. The results from this survey will be used to guide how we share information about and promote Public Health programs and services.
