Freethinkers' Hall

Free Thinker's Hall in Sauk City, Wisconsin

Sauk City native son and architect, Alfred Claus, designed this meeting hall for the Frei Gmeinde congregation. Erected in 1884, at 307 Polk Street, Park Hall stands today as memorial and landmark to German immigrants who sought political and religious freedom, and found it in establishing the Free Congregation of Sauk County in 1852. Now a century-and-one-score years old, Park Hall enjoys national, state, and county historic site status, and continues to serve the purpose for which it was built: a meeting place for free thinkers.
