Cabochon Gems & Designs

The building is a stone, cottage-style gas station built in 1926 which is now used as a jewelry design studio and retail shop. The exterior is unchanged from when it was built and is still easily recognizable as a gas station. It is one of the "cutest" buildings ever built, the giraffe stone being unusual and is still completely intact.

The Barnard's built and operated the gas station and sold Johnson Oil; they added the service bay in 1930. The business failed in 1946 when the bridge went out, at which time the building and shed in the back became a bull breeding area. They also housed horses during this time.

The building was sold to the present owners in 1998 by Barnard family members and converted to its present business. It has been filmed for use on public TV and is also referenced in the Wisconsin State Historical Society's lectures on gas stations.
