REASON FOR MEETING:  SPECIAL MEETING – PARK TOUR
SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION:
 

1.         Call to order and certify compliance with open meetings law

2.         Adopt agenda.

3.         Travel to Sauk County Forest located at S12604 Porter Rd, Spring Green (Approximate arrival
             9:00 a.m.)

4.         Tour Sauk County Forest and surrounding area (Leaving at approximately 9:45 a.m.)

5.         Travel to White Mound County Park located at S7995 White Mound Drive, Hillpoint
             (Approximate arrival at 10:15 a.m.)

6.         Tour White Mound County Park

7.         End at Prairie Smoke Terrace (Approximate arrival 11:30 a.m.)

8.         Next meeting dates – Tuesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 26.

9.        Adjournment

County Park Tour

                                   

Land Resources and Environment Committee members present: M. Krueger, P. Kinsman, V. McAuliffe (arrived at 10:57 a.m.), D. Polivka, R. Nelson

 

Absent: R. Curry, B. Lohr, R. Puttkamer

 

Others Present:  M. Stieve, L. Wilson

 

Chair Krueger call the meeting to order at 8:43 a.m. and certified that the meeting was in compliance with open meeting law.

 

Adopt Agenda:  Motion by Kinsman/Polivka to adopt the agenda for October 1, 2021 Park Tour.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Committee members departed from Prairie Smoke Terrace traveling to the Sauk County Forest with an approximate arrival time of 9:25 a.m.  Stieve provide information regarding the previous timber sales, root rot, Red Pine issues, and the potential for a future Master Plan for the property.  Committee members discussed opportunities for joint ventures for trails with the DNR property that is located adjacent to the forest.  Krueger discussed the previous decision of a previous County Board to not move forward with the State County Forest Program. 

 

Arrived back at White Mound County Park at 9:43 a.m.  Discussed some findings from the ADA Evaluation, horse camping area and future improvements, Emerald Ash Borer, boardwalk locations for the Lake Trail, ADA hunting area as well as upgrades to the dump station and park shop improvements.

 

Arrived back at Prairie Smoke Terrace at 11:21 a.m.

 

Next meeting dates: Tuesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 26.

 

Motion by Polivka/Kinsman to adjourn at 11:22 a.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
