                                    Beginning at Sauk County West Square Building

REASON FOR MEETING:  SPECIAL

SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION:
 

1.         Call to order and certify compliance with open meetings law – West Square Building Parking Lot

2.         Adopt agenda.

3.         Travel to Sauk County Farm (Leaving WSB approximately 9:05am)

a. Sauk County Farm: Master Plan, Rainfall Simulator, Cover Crop Demonstration and Rotational Grazing overview presented by Sauk County LRE Staff (S4555 County Rd CH Reedsburg arrival approximately 9:30 a.m.)

4.         Travel to Sauk County West Square Building (Leaving Sauk County Farm approximately 11:30 a.m.)

5.         Next meeting dates - Tuesday, September 21, 2021 and Thursday, October 9, 2021.

6.         Adjournment.

Sauk County Conservation Field Tour – Sauk County Farm

 

Land Resources and Environment Committee members present:  M. Krueger, R. Nelson, R. Curry, D. Polivka, V. McAuliffe, B. Lohr and P. Kinsman.

 

Absent:  R. Puttkamer

 

Others Present:  M. Schlupp, J. Bula, S. Koenig, G. Johnson, C. Fowler

 

At 9:03 a.m. Krueger called the Land Resources and Environment Committee meeting to order.  Schlupp certified to be in compliance with Open Meetings Law.

 

Adopted Agenda:  Motion by McAuliffe/Polivka to adopt the agenda as presented.  Motion carried, all in favor.

 

Tour Sauk County Farm

Arrived at 9:30 a.m. Fowler provided an overview of the Sauk County Farm Master Plan and highlighted the partnerships that are being developed for future projects including community gardens, regenerative agriculture test plots, and pollinator habitat.

 

Koenig presented information on soil health and used the rainfall simulator to demonstrate the impacts of an intense rainfall event on various land uses.

 

Kinsman presented information on rotational grazing and provided a demonstration on the watering and fencing equipment used. 

 

Next meeting dates – Tuesday, September 21 and Thursday, October 14.

 

Arrived back at the West Square Building at 11:58 a.m.  Motion by Kinsman/Polivka to adjourn at 12:00 p.m.  Motion carried, all in favor.
