Aging & Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee

Thursday, February 18^th, 2021

Virtual Meeting/ County Board Gallery Room 326A        

West Square Building, 505 Broadway, Baraboo WI 53913

Members Present:  Carlson, Curry, Dorner, Ellington, Rudolph, Waddell, and Wolkowski

Members Absent:   None

County Personnel:  Hause, ADRC; Wittmann, ADRC; Zomer, ADRC;

Others Present:       Brent Miller, County Administrator

AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE QUARTERLY MEETING:

1) Carlson called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.

2) MOTION (Curry/Ellington) to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.

3) MOTION (Curry/Dorner) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of November 19^th, 2020.  Motion carried unanimously.

4) Public Comment: Hause read to the committee a Thank you letter from a client regarding Meals on Wheels program.

5) Communications:  None

6) Department Reports:

a) ADRC December report: Hause reported that due to Covid-19 ADRC had to make some changes in the ADRC programs. Additional funding will be available under transportation grant 53.10. ADRC is working on preparing new aging plan for the period 2022-2024. Discussion followed. No action taken.

b) Nutrition: Hause informed the board that all congregate dining centers are closed and probably will remain closed until spring/summer of 2021.Our clients can receive a home delivered meal or carry out meal from our dining centers or Reedsburg Country Club/The Shed.  Hause informed the board the due to staff issues ADRC will have to close Lake Delton dining center for 2 weeks. Discussion followed.

MOTION (Ellington/Dorner) to close Lake Delton dining center from February 8^th, 2021 until February 21^st, 2021 with possible extension until end of February 2021 if needed. Vote all in favor.

c) Caregiver:  Wittmann informed the board that in 2020 ADRC was able to launch a caregiver library using the

DCS carry over funds. ADRC is lending the tablets for a period of 6 moths with option the time frame to extend. ADRC was able to use all caregiver scholarships for 2020. Discussion followed.

c) Evidence-based Classes for 2021:  ADRC held a virtual Boost your brain class – 11 participants. Staring March 22^nd, 2021 we will be offering another virtual Boost your brain class for 8 weeks.   WIHA approved all stepping on classes to be virtual but at this point we are not going to hold a virtual class due to safety concerns for our clients. Discussion followed.

e) Volunteer updates – We are always looking for volunteers to deliver meals in Reedsburg and Baraboo. Due to COVID our volunteers need to follow some safety standards.

f) Dementia updates – Hause informed the board that ADRC have new dementia care specialist- Pam Kul-Berg. ADRC received a DCS carry over funds that are used for Project lifesaver, purchase Comfort kits for local shelters/ fire stations, and expand the landing library with purchasing 2 new tablets. Discussion followed.

7) Other ADRC updates: Miller informed the board that he attended a few state meeting over the last few weeks. The State budget is due by end of June 2021. Discussion followed. No action taken.

8) Next meeting date and time: Thursday, May 20^th, 2021 at 9:00 am- West Square Building

9) MOTION (Dorner/Ross) to adjourn until Thursday, May 20^th, 2021 at 9:00a.m.  Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 9:52 a.m.
