Recycling Bins

Recycling bins available from CPZ

Sauk County Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department (CPZ) has recycling bins available on loan for any outdoor special event free of charge.  These bins are perfect for all occasions from small get-togethers to large events.

The open mesh design helps assure only recyclables are deposited in the containers.  The bins come complete, ready for you to haul to your event in a special purpose trailer.  Once on-site the bins require minor assembly before use.  Sponsor groups make arrangements for the disposal of the recyclables in cooperation with their local solid waste handler or other method.  Any earnings from the recyclables goes to the sponsor group.  When empty the bins are collapsed, loaded into the trailer and returned to their Baraboo storage location.

The bins save on trash disposal cost and can earn your group profits but, more importantly, they promote recycling by making it easy.

Conservation staff worked with students is the Sauk Prairie School District to build the large, collapsible, recycling bins using discarded wood pallets.  Signage can be provided to remind people to recycle.  A donation from Wisconsin Intercounty Nonprofit Recycling and money raised from a bird house sale allowed CPZ to purchase the building materials and the trailer.
