Lake Wisconsin Alliance

A group of local citizens have been working to form a Lake Wisconsin advocacy organization and would like to announce that the organization will be named the Lake Wisconsin Alliance.

The Lake Wisconsin Alliance Steering Committee is currently developing vision and mission statements to be finalized at its meeting on January 23rd, 2014 at 6:00PM.   All future meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00PM and all citizens are welcome.

At the Jan. 23rd meeting they will also be discussing goals and objectives essential to forming a legal non-profit organization to register with the State of WI and the IRS.  This will require a Board of Directors is identified and by-laws are written along with other formalities.  In this effort the Lake Wisconsin Alliance is recruiting for local citizens to get involved and assist with development and implementation of the organizational goals and objectives.

The Lake Wisconsin Alliance will be hosting another Educational Seminar focused on the Lake Wisconsin fishery.  Nathan Nye a Fisheries Biologist with the Wisconsin DNR will present results of the 2012 fishery survey, along with information from annual monitoring;1993-2013.  Joel “Boog” Ballweg a long time and local (Sauk Prairie) Lake Wisconsin fishing guide will present eight years of creel survey data regarding walleye/sauger, and will also speak to high water levels and fishing, in particular the Lake Delton breach and its effects.   This seminar will be on January 13th; 6:00pm at the Town of West Point Town Hall on Hwy 188.
