Groundwater Quality Trend Project

Sauk County Groundwater Trends Map

Beginning in 2020, Sauk County Public Health, Extension, and Land Resources and Environment departments partnered with UW Stevens Point Center for Watershed Science and Education to implement a citizen-based groundwater monitoring program.

Although residents of Sauk County have performed extensive voluntary well testing, little information exists that allows for an understanding of how groundwater quality has changed over time. The goal of the program is to establish a network of private well owners to perform annual testing over an extended period of time to help inform residents and local leaders whether groundwater quality is getting better, worse, or staying the same.
