Justice Continuum

In August, the Sauk County Board of Supervisors created a Justice Continuum to recommend programming that will coordinate efforts across departments and committees to work with clients of the justice system.

The Board of Supervisors identified that options other than incarceration need to be looked at for dealing with the complex issues that contribute to incarceration and threaten public safety and well-being.  Three such examples are:   the development of jail alternatives, substance abuse and mental health issues in the jail.

The principal mission of the Committee is to enhance public safety in Sauk County through collaboration by ensuring offender accountability, providing rehabilitation programs and supporting the rights and needs of victims. In addition, the Council is committed to providing the coordinated leadership necessary to establish and foster innovative corrections programs.

This committee is comprised of the Senior Circuit Court Judge, the District Attorney, five County Board Supervisors, the Sheriff and the Human Services Director.
