Richard Bryant (Dane County Drug Court): Mr. Bryant discusses his role as a Case Manager in the Dane County Drug Court where he works with both high risk (Drug Court) and medium risk (Diversion Court) participants. Mr. Bryant cites urinalysis and frequent case management sessions along with the use of COMPAS as key components to the success of the program. Mr. Bryant also discusses some of the common “barriers” that the participants face including housing, transportation, and comprehensive “wrap around” treatment services.
Case Manager/Coordinator Role: The new position for a Drug Court Coordinator is discussed including the hybrid approach that Sauk County Adult Drug Court will use with this job description. The job will combine the functional components of a Drug Court Coordinator position along with the components of a Case Manager position, allowing the oversight and management to be built into the Criminal Justice Coordinator’s position.
Drug Court Team Member Training: J. Krueger reports that after a request from Judge Screnock for more information on Drug Courts and the evidence that supports a 57% greater reduction in recidivism for drug courts that provide a formal training for all new team members results in the first draft of a formal training manual.
