Communication

 

The I-Team discussed expanding membership to more community partners.  Barb Walsh, Sauk County Public Health Nurse/guest speaker, was invited to become a member of this committee to serve as a representative from the Sauk County Public Health office.  Kristine Dejanovich, Area Coordinator from the Department of Human Services, shared ideas on how to expand membership and agreed to share information from the Elder Justice Initiative including an I-Team guide and tool-kit.  Adult Protective Services staff: Bishop, Fenske, and Sorenson agreed to contact community partners including Sauk County Aging and Disability Resource Center staff, Sauk County Veteran Services officer, local clergy, postal workers, financial institutions, and emergency medical services and report back to the I-Team regarding potential members. 

 

Spoentgen noted as voting members expand, the quorum of members may also need to expand.  This will be determined as the I-Team develops.  Currently, membership is nine members with a quorum being five members.

 

Business Items:

 

Mission/Vision of the Interdisciplinary Team:  Mission/Vision of the I-Team is being developed along with membership expansion.

 

Chapter 55 Training:  Training in 2018 will be developed with Sauk County Corporation Counsel’s office.  However, this department is not currently full staffed and training will be scheduled as staff are available from that office.  Ideas discussed to maximize attendance at that training with medical professionals and law enforcement.

 

Barb Walsh, RN Sauk County Public Health shared their department’s history and ongoing collaboration with Adult Protective Services (APS) to investigate adult at risk reports particularly with individuals with high medical needs.  Together, the APS social worker and public health nurse are able to assess what is most crucial and provide resources.

 

Next Meeting:

 

               The next meeting will be on December 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Room C128.

 

 

Motion by Spoentgen, seconded by Fenske, to adjourn meeting.  Motion carried.
