OAR/OWL Diversion Program: J. Krueger reports that to date there have been forty-three (43) referrals into this program with fourteen (14) active clients. In review of the twenty-nine (29) referrals that have not entered programming it is reported that 24% did not contact ATTIC to schedule their intake session, 10% failed to appear for their intake session, and 7% were out of county residents. The remaining referrals chose not to participate or were unable to participate for a variety of reasons including incarceration and DA discretion.
Re-Entry Initiatives: J. Krueger reports the overall lack of response from other CJCC’s regarding re-entry but does provide data reported by Portage County on an ongoing pilot program and a historic grant funded program for re-entry initiatives. This group discusses factors of re-entry and common barriers that the jail and DOC staff sees with their clients. The group discusses some researchable concept ideas along with the importance of involving Workforce Development in these efforts.
