5. SCLS Report: Martha Van Pelt reported on SCLS strategic planning. Although there was no funding for a planning project director, SCLS is going forward with a steering committee for the strategic directions project. $35,000 has been allocated from the Library Services Technology Act (LSTA). The Wisconsin Public Library Consortium (WPLC) is recommending Overdrive rather than using Flipster. SCLS is in the process of annexing the Randolph public library. Randolph is completing the necessary administrative details to transfer to SCLS.
6. Discussion of 2016 County Reimbursement Funding Proposal from SCLS: There is no action at this time other than to form a budget sub-committee and to set its first committee meeting date. Bev Vaillancourt, Judy Ashford, and Maureen Palmer were suggested for membership on the Budget sub-committee.
7. Maureen Palmer shared the Output Performance Measurers for 2014 spreadsheet with the librarians and the members of the Board.
8. Library Service Plan: Ben Miller reported that the Library Service Plan is almost completed. Judy Ashford asked that the report be completed before the end of May.
9. Cynthia Shanks Memorial: $330 in fund to honor Cynthia Shanks. The librarians and board discussed having a book on quilting in each of the libraries with a bookplate honoring Cindy.
10. Sauk City Library: Ben Miller reported that the Sauk City library recently purchased a new 3D printer for approximately $2000. The library is resurfacing the parking lot and widening the entrance. Rock Springs: Haley Weisert attended Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries. The library is going to take a break from the kitchen program. Instead, it will undertake a soil quilting program. LaValle: Pam Thompson reported that LaValle is having a community read and is in the process of setting up a wireless printer. Baraboo: Meg Allen reported that they have digitized two local history works by Joe Ward and Bob Duell. Based on a grant from ALA, there is a youth program on video gaming. Reedsburg: Maureen Palmer reported that the Wisconsin Writers Quilt is now in a glass display case in the library. Larry Scheckl spoke about his book to an audience of approximately twenty. The Reedsburg Friends books sale starts this week. North Freedom: Five hundred people showed up for the Easter egg hunt. Three thousand eggs were hidden and found in approximately four minutes. For Pi day, over one hundred people showed up for a pie social. In June there will be a book and bake sale. Spring Green: The Spring Green library had a Lego Mindstorms program event on Saturday, April 18 in the Community Room. The free event promoted interest in science, technology, engineering and math. In addition, the library hosted an identity theft program. Carol Anderson also noted that the library had a new 20 foot Parachute received as a donation. Finally, the library is partnering with a local assisted care/nursing home for its storytimes program. Prairie du Sac: Sauk County is holding a citizens forum at the Ruth Culver Community Library on Thursday, May 21 at 5 PM; one of numerous forums throughout the county. 18 teens attended our last Teen Tuesday program. Enhancing adult programming is a current focus; upcoming programs include Crafter's Night Out: Mystery Bag Challenge (Monday, May 18) and Butterflies in Your Yard (Monday, June 22). Friends of the Library Book Sale is Friday, May 29 & Saturday, May 30. Our Children's Librarian attended a special New Media Training in March on incorporating new technology in libraries.
