- Sue Meise reported on the Spring Green library budget. After talking to the Spring Green library board members, Sue Meise reported that the library board is working with the village board regularly and that they are handling the reduced library budget as well as possible. Sue indicated that a letter from the Sauk County Library Board would not be productive and that the local library board is handling the situation. She recommends that the Sauk County Library Board not send a letter to the Spring Green village board. Bob Wills mentioned that the cuts to the library have reduced its hours to the minimum recommended in the Sauk County Library plan for a library of its size. The Spring Green Library Board is looking at ways that they can continue providing services despite the cut in funding by the village board. A member of the village board will now serve on the library board. Bev Vaillancourt suggested that the library conduct a needs assessment in order to do some strategic planning. Bob Wills indicated that the Sauk County library board should communicate to the Spring Green village board that the library maintain regular hours and that the village not use designated funds held by the library for operations.
- SCLS Report: No report. The new SCLS representative will begin work on February 20, 2012. The Board will work to establish a good relationship with the new person.
- Librarians’ Report: Denise Anton Wright will begin working as the SCLS representative. Maureen Palmer spoke highly of her. She has had experience as the New Glarus librarian. Today there is an upgrade to the library system software which seems to be working smoothly thus far. Some libraries in Dane county may be leaving Link, but not the Madison Publilc Libraary. Patrons of these libraries would not have access to materials in Link and vice versa. Librarians could access the materials but Patrons would not. Sue Steiner the director for over 20 years is retiring in July of this year from the Reedsburg PL. Library Legislative Day is February 14, 2012.
- The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012, 9:00 a.m. at the Spring Green PL.
Bev Vaillancourt moved Cindy Shanks seconded a motion to adjourn. Passed unanimously.
