FINANCE SUB-COMMITTEE MINUTES

Sauk County Finance Committee Member present:  Jason Lane

City of Baraboo Finance/Personnel Committee Member present:  Dennis Thurow

Others present:  Kerry Beghin, Ed Geick, Liz Geoghegan, Cheryl Giese, Kathy Schauf, Scott Sloan, media

 

The meeting was called to order by County Finance Committee Member Lane at 3:00 PM.  Certification of open meeting compliance was given.  Motion by Thurow, second by Lane to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

It was the consensus of the Committee members for Lane to serve of Chairperson.

 

Public Comment:  None.

Communications:  None.

 

Consideration of recommendation for funding of University of Wisconsin Baraboo/Sauk County campus science facilities between the City of Baraboo and the County of Sauk.

The strength of the partnership between the City and County was discussed.  The goals of the County loaning funds to the City include finding a mutually beneficial arrangement minimizing the cost to taxpayers and mitigating risk.  Interest rates and the term of the agreement were discussed.  It was the consensus to further explore a 20-year agreement at 3.25 percent.  After 10 years, the interest rate would be reviewed as compared to a defined index.  The interest rate could then be modified, or the City could choose to pursue alternate funding for the balance.

 

Motion by Thurow, second by Lane to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.
