Canvass votes cast at the November 6, 2012 Presidential & General Election. All reporting information was present. The Canvassers were each provided a tabular report with election night results generated from the State Canvass system to confirm correctness when comparing each reporting unit’s total votes cast for each candidate on their results tapes, including verifying the highest number of votes cast (OS & TSX combined) is the same or less than the highest numbers of voters on each poll list. Inspectors’ statements and Incident logs were also reviewed. The total number of votes cast for the top race on the ballot which was President and Vice President were also compared to total number of voters, to make sure there was no big drop off of votes cast to total voters.
No late Provisional ballots cast on Election Day.
Late arriving absentee ballots were canvassed and counted.
The following are adjustments noted by the County Board of Canvassers:
Town of Spring Green - total of 987 ballots cast, 2 ballots jammed, re-run through OS, MBOC should have followed drawn down procedures. Election night “unofficial results” were keyed in error and corrected for candidate Howard Marklein.
Town of Troy – contests not recorded on tally sheet next to write In names, unable to record any write ins other than 1 on TSX unit.
Village of Loganville – 135 ballots cast, 1 ballot jammed , re-run through, MBOC should have followed drawn down procedures.
Village of North Freedom – election night “unofficial results” were keyed in error for candidate Fred Clark. Correct number record at canvass of 196. They had run out of ballots and had paper ballots to add to final tally.
Village of Rock Springs did not record total number of voters listed on poll book or on inspectors’ statement.
Village of Sauk City – 1888 votes cast, 2 jammed ballots, re-run through, MBOC should have followed draw down procedures.
City of Baraboo – Wards 7-10, 2 jammed ballots, re-run through, MBOC should have followed draw down procedures.
