AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE QUARTERLY MEETING:
1) Carlson called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.
2) MOTION (Curry/Whitsell) to adopt the agenda. Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.
3) MOTION (Spencer/Waddell) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of August 29, 2019. Motion carried unanimously.
4) Public Comment: Carlson informed that the Spring Green community center will be having an open house during Country Christmas, December 7th and 8th, 2019
5) Communications: None
6) Service Reports:
a) Nutrition:
1) Meals thru end of 3rd Quarter of 2019: Blodgett reported on 50,000 meals provided year-to-date thru September, 2019. Breakfast bags are delivered every 2 weeks. In the next year we will see 5% increase in congregate meals. Discussion followed. No action taken.
2) Plans for Dining Sites in 2019: Blodgett reported that we are working on contracts with 4Star restaurant and Reedsburg Country Club. Blodgett and Wittmann met with the owners of 4 Star Restaurant in Baraboo and discussed the possible switching to the restaurant model- over the lunch hour; Reedsburg dining Center – we are looking forward to switch to a restaurant model and moved the dining center to Reedsburg Country Club or Health Care Center. We are finding out that our clients are enjoying the restaurant model better than congregate meals. ADRC have approved menus and completed all requirements for the restaurant model. Discussion followed. With switching to a restaurant model we are hoping to have 5% increase in congregate meals in 2020. No action taken.
b) Caregiver:
1) New NFCSP scholarship funding: Blodgett reported that ADRC still have funds for caregiver respite care.
2) Number of scholarships given: Blodgett reported that this year so far we already used 17 scholarships. Coalition: the goal is to have 75 businesses dementia Friendly trained in Reedsburg by June of 2020.
c) Evidence-based Classes for 2019:
1) Stepping On class will ended on October 31, 2019. Since the beginning of the year we had 4 completed workshops and 35 participants. Blodgett reported that we have two more ADRC employees who completed the Stepping on training in October in Eau Clare.
2) Powerful Tools for Caregivers class – we have 2 workshops running now and 18 completed.
d) Volunteer: MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) for older adults: Blodgett reported that the workshop was held on September 11th, 2019, and they were 17 participants. On November 16th, 2019 we had Caregiver Boot camp at 6:8 Inc., and 21 participants attended.
7) Other ADRC updates: Blodgett informed the board that we are looking for more volunteers in Reedsburg and Baraboo to deliver meals and to be a volunteer escort drivers. Discussion followed, no action taken.
8) Next meeting date and time: Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 9:00 am- West Square Building
9) MOTION (Spencer/Whitsell) to adjourn until Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 9:00a.m. Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 10:02 a.m.
