Aging & Disability Resource Center Advisory Committee

Members Present:  Carlson, Curry, Ellington, Rudolph, Spencer, Wolkowski, and Waddell

Members Absent:   Whitsell (excused)

AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE QUARTERLY MEETING:

1) Carlson called the meeting to order at 9:51 a.m. and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was verified.

2) MOTION (Spencer/Ellington) to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously and agenda adopted.

3) MOTION (Curry/Wolkowski) to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 16, 2019.  Motion carried unanimously.

4) Public Comment:  None

5) Communications:  Blodgett introduced Margaret Allen – ADRC Nutrition Director.

6) Service Reports:

a) Nutrition:

1) Meals thru end of 2nd Quarter of 2019: Blodgett reported on over 31,776 meals provided year-to-date thru June, 2019.  Breakfast bags are delivered every 2 weeks. Discussion followed. No action taken.

2) Plans for Dining Sites in 2019: Blodgett reported that we looking to possible moving the Baraboo Dining Center and Reedsburg Dining Center to a new locations. Blodgett and Wittmann met with the owners of 4 Star Restaurant in Baraboo and discussed the possible switching to the restaurant model- over the lunch hour; Reedsburg dining Center – we are looking forward to switch to a restaurant model and moved the dining center to Reedsburg Country Club or Health Care Center.  We are finding out that our clients are enjoying the restaurant model better than congregate meals. We are working on creating menus and completing all requirements for the restaurant model.  Discussion followed.  No action taken.

3) Blodgett reported that the cost of our breakfast program at Schitzelbank Restaurant at Plain, WI is $5.75 per meal. She presented to the board a letter from Gani Ahmetaj requesting an increase of payment to $6.25 per meal due to increased food cost. Discussion followed

MOTION (Rudolph/Curry) to approve the price increase to $6.25 per meal starting September 1^st, 2019. Vote all in favor.

b) Caregiver:

                1) New NFCSP scholarship funding: Blodgett reported that ADRC was approved for additional $ 3,000.00 in caregiver respite funds.

                2) Number of scholarships given: Blodgett reported that this year so far we already used 15 scholarships. We’ve spent $4,400 of $ 7,500.00

c) Evidence-based Classes for 2019:

1) Stepping On class will ends on October 31, 2019. Since the beginning of the year we had 7 classes and 2 classes scheduled for the fall. 

2)  Powerful Tools for Caregivers class – next class will be on October 17^th, 2019 at Oak Park Place. Susan Blodgett and Gina Laack (Dementia Care Specialist) will be the leaders of the class.

d) Volunteer: MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) for older adults: Blodgett reported that we currently we have 11 volunteers signed up.

8) Next meeting date and time: Tuesday, November 20, 2019 at 9:00 am- West Square Building

9) MOTION (Spencer/Ellington) to adjourn until Tuesday, November 20, 2019 at 9:00a.m.  Motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 10:13 a.m.
