INSURED FAMILIES NEED TO SCHEDULE CHILDREN’S VACCINATIONS WITH THEIR PHYSICIANS STARTING OCTOBER 1ST

September 19, 2012

Contact: Barb Walsh, Public Health Nurse

Beginning October 1, 2012, the Sauk County Health Department will no longer be able to vaccinate children who have insurance coverage for their vaccines. The Vaccine For Children program will continue to provide vaccines to children through 19 years of age who:
• Have no health insurance
• Are Medicaid eligible
• Are American Indian or Alaskan Native
• Have private insurance, but the vaccine is not covered

The Sauk County Health Department will also have select vaccines available for adults who are uninsured or do not have vaccine coverage through their insurance.

Because of the statewide pertussis outbreak local health departments may continue to immunize insured individuals with any pertussis containing vaccine.
