Grief Resource Guide

File Updated: June 2022

Some of the most painful losses we experience are the deaths of loved ones. Grief is a natural, active process during which we experience intense feelings, revisit memories, and adjust to life without the loved one. There is no one “right” way to grieve, no timetable; and the ups and downs during grieving can be unpredictable.  The Sauk County Grieving Guide was created to provide resources to those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.  It is our hope that this guide will be helpful throughout the grieving process, and the information will be useful as families’ journey through this hard time.

The Sauk County Grieving Guide was developed through the collaboration of several community stakeholders.  Involvement from the Sauk County Health Department, Sauk County Coroner’s Office, Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, local law enforcement agencies, Sauk County Human Services Department and local EMS Departments contributed to the development of this guide.
