Public Well Inspection and Sampling

well water

Public Health Sauk County is contracted through the Wisconsin DNR to inspect and sample transient non-community wells.  These are wells that serve at least 25 people at least 60 days of the year, but do not serve the same 25 people over 6 months of the year.  This includes privately owned (non-municipal) wells that serve the public such as churches, hotels, gas stations, supper clubs, taverns, etc. These wells are inspected and sampled annually to ensure that safe water is being supplied to the public.  If you own a well that fits the criteria above that is not sampled annually, please contact Public Health Sauk County at (608) 355-4327.
