Purpose

To authorize the acqusition of ariel photography of the entire County and related products and services.

Background

The periodic aqcuisition of aerial photography allows Sauk County to provide a up to date representation of tax parcels and land use throughout the County.  These images are used by multiple departments, other units of government and the public.

This project is funded through the Land Records Modernization Fund which consists of fees retained from the recording of documents in the Register of Deeds Office.  Under State law, these fees are to be used for the creation and maitenance of land records information.

Authorizing the Acquisition and Purchase of County-wide Color Digital Orthophotography and Related Services

 

            WHEREAS, the Sauk County Land Information Department maintains the Sauk County Geographic Information System, and;

 

            WHEREAS, the purpose of the system is to provide accurate and current records related to the geography of Sauk County for public and private uses, and;

 

            WHEREAS, the most recent one-foot resolution color photography was acquired in 2010, and;

                   

            WHEREAS, the proposed 2015 project would produce 6-inch resolution color orthophotography, and;

 

            WHEREAS, the proposed project is to be funded with Land Records Modernization funds, which are comprised of fees retained from document filings in the Register of Deeds Department to be used to improve Sauk County’s Land Records System, and;

 

            WHEREAS, proposals received were evaluated by the GIS Coordinator and Cartographer/GIS Specialist, and;

 

            WHEREAS, the Conservation, Planning and Zoning Committee has reviewed this matter and found it in the best interest of Sauk County to accept the following proposal:

 

                        The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn) for $63,715.28 as follows:

                                    County-wide Color Orthophotos -                   $52,332.00

                                    Derived Black & White Orthophotos -                         included in base pricing

                                    County-wide 6-inch Infra-red Imagery                        included in base pricing

                                    County-wide Building Footprints                     $11,383.28

 

            NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, that the acquisition and purchase of County-wide 6-inch Color Digital Orthophotography and related services from The Sanborn Mapping Company, Inc for $63,715.28 is hereby approved, and,

 

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Sauk County MIS Coordinator be authorized and directed to enter into the necessary agreements required to obtain these products and services.
