  • Grading, removal of protective ground cover or vegetation, excavation, land filling or other land disturbing activity which affects an area of 4,000 square feet or more.
  • Excavating, filling or a combination which affects 400 cubic yards or more of soil, sand, excavation or fill material.
  • Construction, enlargement, relocation, or reconstruction of a public bridge, street, highway, or road which affects 4,000 square feet, 400 cubic feet or more.
  • Laying, repairing, replacing, or enlarging, an underground pipe or facility for a distance of 300 feet or more.
  • Land disturbing activities relating to development, including subdivision plats, certified survey maps, and condominium plats as defined in Chapter 22 of the Sauk County Code of Ordinances
  • Land disturbing activities, regardless of size, that the Department determines is likely to have a high risk of soil erosion or water pollution; or may violate any other erosion control standard set forth in this ordinance. This includes but is not limited to lands with highly erodible soils, and 12% or greater slopes.

For more information on appropriate measures for these sites, contact the Department immediately before any work is started or plans drawn up. Additional permits or Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources review may be required.
