APPROVING THE 2018-2028 SAUK COUNTY LAND AND WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PLAN

WHEREAS, through 1998-1999 Wisconsin Act 27, Wis. Stat. § 92.10 was amended, requiring counties to develop land and water resource management plans, and this statutory amendment provided Sauk County with the opportunity to assess natural resource conditions and needs and to decide how to best meet conservation goals; and,

WHEREAS, counties that want to be eligible to receive soil and water management staff and grant funding from the DATCP must submit a plan and annual funding request based upon an approved LWRM plan; and

            WHEREAS, ATCP ch. 50 contains detailed requirements for the preparation of a county LWRM and describes the approval process by the DATCP Land and Water Resources Management Board; and

            WHEREAS, as prescribed by ATCP ch. 50, Sauk County, by its Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department, assembled the 2018-2028 Sauk County LWRM Plan with assistance and oversight from the Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Committee, a diverse Citizen Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee and consultation with many agencies, farmers, conservation, and agricultural organizations; and 

            WHEREAS, a final draft of the 2018-2028 Sauk County LWRM Plan was posted on the county webpage and a public hearing before the Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Committee was held on September 14, 2017; and,

            WHEREAS, the DATCP Land and Water Conservation Board will consider approval of the 2018-2018 Sauk County LWRM Plan at their October 3, 2017 meeting; and

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Sauk County Board of Supervisors,

met in regular session, that the Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Committee approves the 2018-2028 Sauk County Land and Water Resource Management Plan. ________________________________________
