Purpose

To Continue Efforts to Establish a Partnership with Sauk County Economic Development Corporation for County-Wide Economic Development Programs

Background

Sauk County Administration Department, representatives from the Economic Development Committee, and members of the Sauk County Development Corporation (SCDC) Board began discussions surrounding a potential new partnership to expand economic development throughout Sauk County in Fall 2025.  To assist in looking at options for a partnership, Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA) were brought on board to examine the current structure of SCDC, discuss opportunities to assist local governments and businesses throughout the county with these efforts, and look at options for a new structure to advance county-wide economic development efforts. 

 

Initial findings and general recommendations were provided to the Economic Development Committee at their February meeting.  However, conversations need to continue to determine structure, staffing, funding sources, and performance metrics to ensure that a partnership is meeting the goals and objectives envisioned for a county-wide economic development program.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, who met in regular session, hereby authorizes the County Administrator to enter a Memorandum of Understanding to continue the conversation and advance the efforts necessary to establish a county-side economic development partnership with Sauk County Development Corporation; and

 

Approved for presentation to the County Board by the Economic Development Committee and Executive and Legislative Committee this 19th day of May 2026.
