Resolution to Amend the 2024 Budget for Allocation of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds for Squad Special Equipment and Squad Car

BACKGROUND: The Sheriff’s Office would like to equip all squads with new cages, partitions, and lighting as the current equipment is over 15 years old and needs to be modified to fit current vehicle models and air bags.  In 2022, ARPA funds were allocated for the radio equipment upgrade and the allocation for special squad equipment was not budgeted.  In 2023, funds from the vehicle replacement budget were used to purchase the special squad equipment and the Sheriff’s Department was not able to purchase a squad car. The 2024 Sheriff’s Budget did not include funding for this project.  The pricing for the squad equipment and one squad car is estimated at $240,000; and American Rescue Plan Funds (ARPA) are available for this project.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Sauk County Board of Supervisors, met in regular session, does hereby approve an amendment to the 2024 Budget to allocate $240,000 for squad equipment upgrade and squad car funded by the ARPA grant.
