Sauk County Land Resources and Environment (LRE) Department works closely with the Sauk Soil & Water Improvement Group (SSWIG) to help support, facilitate, document and communicate soil health and water quality improvement projects that are implemented by the group. LRE also acts as a fiscal manager to accept and manage DATCP Producer Led Watershed Protection Grant funds on behalf of SSWIG. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is in place that outlines the objectives and responsibilities of this partnership.

The Sand County Foundation (SCF) is a recipient of a Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) grant allocated by the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service. This grant will provide cost share assistance to landowners who implement conservation practices on their land that protect land and water resources. SCF is working with producer led watershed groups throughout Wisconsin to allocate these funds to farmers through subaward agreements. SSWIG has been selected as a subaward recipient and is set to receive $100,000; however, the funds need to pass through the LRE department as outlined in the MOU.

This subaward agreement outlines the roles and responsibilities of each party, includes a budget that breaks down financial and technical assistance funds being awarded and those being provided as match by SSWIG and LRE, and a statement of work.
