Agency update:
-
Rego and Kuhlmann – went to Safe Harbor to watch a forensic interview.
-
Kuhlmann noted the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Believes it would be a very beneficial thing for us to work with them. Watched interview of 4 year old. Biggest take away – importance to have counseling and therapy immediately available – was a Sauk County child and has to wait 4-6 weeks before getting counseling. Urge inclusion of immediate availability of counseling for child/parent as part of the discussion.
-
Rego – watched interview of transgender male. Very interesting process.
-
Continued discussion of CAC – potential for immediate therapy options. Pointed out issues of insurance v. DHS provision v. advocacy v. crisis. Noted greater possibility for allied professionals to attend (such as ADAs).
Point of order by Spoentgen – asked if we’re done with agency updated. Paused discussion of CAC.
-
-
Greenwood – gave out agency handout regarding Drug Endangered Children.
-
-
Child Advocacy Center Discussion
-
Locations – Didn’t think that inner visions can accommodate. Hope House 8th St. property has been sold, so unable to use. Also unlikely to be able to use in-facility space in Hope House due to confidentiality issues. Civic Center still being explored. Discussion of locations in West Square; courthouse (both 2nd and 3rd floor). Mention possibility of remodeling St. Mary’s (unlikely – has asbestos); a former doctor’s office near St. Claire; SSM rehab center – seems like it would be a good building. Bring up what Safe Harbor actually wants in their Satellite location – discussion w/ Jennifer as to what they would want in a location. Linda H to reach out to Jennifer for information as to specifics of a location (size, other requirements, etc.)
-
Next Steps – Data from Safe Harbor – our usage of Safe Harbor has greatly increased in the last several years
-
There is a very large CAC “desert” anywhere north of Sauk. Even perhaps areas beyond contingent counties.
-
Potential for Jennifer to physically come to Sauk to talk to us about this. Linda H to discuss this with her.
-
Questions to be submitted to LaBroscian for presentation to Ginsberg.
-
-
Linda H arrives – notes that she talked to Ginsberg
-
Excited about satellite office with us.
-
Places that would be best would be hospital or the property on 8th St (no longer an option for reason mentioned above). St. Claire Center may be an option. Didn’t like the civic center based on description of property – unsure about Courthouse.
-
Willing to provide the interviewer and staff (coordinating from Madison – interviewer travelling up here from Madison). There would be start-up costs for equipment. Ginsberg to talk to Elizabeth Champion (Chapter president of CAC Network).
-
-
Jenna to reach out to St. Claire about possibility of St. Claire Center utilization.
-
-
-
Next Meeting – 2/19/20 @ 3:30PM – 213 W. Square
-
Adjourn – Motion by Kuhlmann; Second by Hill; Approved by unanimous vote – 4:25PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Rick Spoentgen
