Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.

Certification of Open Meeting Notice

Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.

Approval of Agenda Amended

Motion made by Zowin, second by Wiese to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting

Motion made by Zowin, second by Nobs to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of August 26, 2010. Motion carried.

Communications

Correspondence was communicated.

SAUK COUNTY UW EXTENSION

Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers (UW Extension)

A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of July in the amount of $1,838.68. Motion carried.

UW Extension 2011 Budget

Erickson reviewed budget in detail. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the proposed 2011 UW Extension Budget.

Alice in Dairyland 2011 Budget and Amount of Scholarship Funds Awarded Annually

A motion was made by Stehling, second by Zowin to include the proposed 2011 Alice in Dairy- land funds into the UW –Extension budget and to include increasing the amount of yearly scholarships to three (3) recipients for $500.00 each; totaling $1500.00 annually.

Sauk County Ag Society Funding

Koepp and Zirzow proposed a $5,000.00 increase in addition to the $20,000.00 funding for the Sauk County Fair. Request was denied for additional funding. Funding for the Sauk County Ag Society will remain at $20,000 in the 2011 proposed budget.

Extension Updates/Reports

• Programs & Priorities: Erickson continued discussion. Agents were asked to create a list of educational possibilities that could be offered and present to committee.
• Introduction of Americore VISTA: Amanda Harguth will be working with youth in 4-H After School programming and YEPS for the next year.
• HCE Heritage Cookbook: Nagelkerk introduced Katie Miller, Experience Works, whose efforts helped bring the cookbook together.

Agent Monthly Reports

• Denise Brusveen, Agriculture Agent –Denise reported on Sauk Ag Updates Newsletter and pasture walks being offered in the county.
• Jenny Erickson, CNRED Agent – Jenny reported on new initiatives in the Sauk County Institute of Leadership. Erickson is also involved in doing a market analysis of Baraboo designed to develop a comprehensive economic development strategy

Action Item: WACEC State Conference (Milwaukee)

Committee members, Wiese and Stehling attended meeting. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Nobs to approve attendance and expenses incurred. Motion carried.

Report on WACEC District II Meeting

Nagelkerk reported on meeting. Stehling is the new, Secretary, Treasurer of the Southern District office.

ARTS & CULTURE

Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers

A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of July in the amount of $1,337.50. Motion carried.

Sauk County Historical Society Annual Funding Request:

Presentation done by Wolters on Sauk County Historical Society. Amount of $10,000.00 funding will remain the same in 2011 Arts & Culture proposed budget.

Arts & Culture 2011 Budget Budget reviewed in detail.

A motion was made by Zowin, second by
Nobs to approved proposed 2011 Arts & Culture budget. Motion carried.

Arts & Culture Reports/Updates

• Ashford received notice the State Bank of Spring Green has been entered in the National Register and/Or State Register of Historic Places.
• Otto Sr. and Lisette Hahn House in Sauk City will be considered for Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and /ORNational Register of Historic Places.

Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants

1. Boys & Girls Clubs of West-Central WI Baraboo Unit- requested $500.00 for support of National Fine Arts Exhibit for youth. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $500.00 to the Boys & Girls Club.
   Motion carried.
2. Linda Genevieve Davis – requested $500.00 to fund film “On the Trail of a Black Sheep.” A motion was made by Stehling, second by Zowin to approve $300.00 (in lieu of $500.00 requested) for the Good Idea Grant. Committee recommended $50.00 per presentation. Motion carried.
3. Joan McArthur – requested $500.00 for funding expanded edition of the color book . A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to postpone the Good Idea Grant due to further information needed. Motion carried.

Request of Registration Fee to Attend 9/24/10 Wisconsin Arts Board Symposium

Erickson requested $51.00 to attend symposium. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve expenditure. Motion carried.
