Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Correction to January 31 minutes: Under Section: Discussion/Action regarding authorization to attend WACEC State Conference- stated conference will be held at Monona Terrace; wording changed to conference will be held at Madison Concourse. Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the corrected minutes of the regular meeting of January 31, 2011. Motion carried.

Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: A motion was made by Stehling, second by Zowin to approve the vouchers for the month of December in the amount of $50 and for the month of January for $2226.22. Motion carried.
-Budget : Erickson reviewed Extension, Arts &Culture and year end budgets with committee again stating we will be over approximately $5,000 due to the Lewis retirement payout.
Arts & Culture: A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of January in the amount of $146.15. Motion carried.
Agents Monthly Review
- Erickson and Nagelkerk discussed the recent training entitled “Creating Healthy Communities” featuring Dr. Zorba Pasteur. Extension partnered with Public Health to offer this training as part of the Sauk County Comprehensive Plan. The event was successful with positive feedback.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension: None
Arts & Culture: Erickson stated that Sauk County reapplied for the WI Arts Board Regranting Program. The grant would be for $10,000.
Discussion-Sauk County Hosting the WI Counties Association Conference
County Chair Krueger asked committee to consider organizing the welcoming booth for the upcoming WI Counties Assoc. Conference in September. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Zowin to approve the UW Ext., Arts & Culture Committee to organize and plan.
Discussion/Action –Karen Crossley, Director of Dane Co. Cultural Affairs Commission to attend UW Extension, Arts & Culture Committee
Ashford will invite Crossley to attend April meeting.
Discussion-Wormfarm Institutes Application for a National Endowment for the Arts Grant-Donna Neuwirth
Neuwirth is submitting a letter of intent for a National Endowment of Arts (NEA) Grant for the Wormfarm Institute. This letter of intent does not qualify her to apply for the grant. If approved to apply and is chosen; Neuwirth is requesting UW, Arts & Culture Committee match a portion of the $50,000 NEA grant. Erickson will talk with county representative for potential options for the carry forward funds.
Review AHHP Grant and Good Idea Grant Final Reports:
Final reports were reviewed by committee. Applicants that did not submit a final report form can not apply for grants in the future.
Review Good Idea Grant Application and Guidelines:
Ashford suggested guidelines remain “as is” and suggested committee review and understand our current guidelines. Individual artists are still able to apply.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Kraemer Library – Requested $500 for the “Summer Art Series.” A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to the Kraemer Library. Motion carried.
2. Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance – Requested $500 in support of their Annual Meeting; a community outreach event featuring the Aldo Leopold inspired film “Green Fire.” A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to the SP Conservation Alliance. Motion Carried.
