Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Nobs, second by Zowin to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Ashford, second by Nobs to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 26, 2011. Motion carried.
Public Comment
George Koepp, President, Sauk County Ag Society updated committee on the upcoming Sauk County Fair and improvements that have been made to the fairgrounds.
Communications
Thank you read to committee from mini grant recipient; shared calendar.
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: Erickson reviewed budget.
A motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the vouchers for the month of May in the amount of $1,382.94. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: Erickson reviewed budget. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of May in the amount of $12,887.72. Motion carried.
*Discussed areas committee could potentially decrease spending. Maps were purchased to last for 3 years; uncertain if will continue to fund out of UW EXT budget when the need arises.
ACTION ITEM: Motion to accept the resignations from Denise Brusveen and Jenni Walsh; authorize UW-Extension to proceed with hiring a 4-H/Youth Development and Agriculture/Natural Resources Educators on an interim basis until hiring freeze is lifted:
A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to accept resignations of Brusveen and Walsh and to proceed with hiring interim educators for 4-H/Youth Development and Agriculture/Natural Resources. Motion carried. Committee does not to be involved in interim hiring process.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension: WCA Conference, Welcome booth planning –details of conference planning and set up were discussed. Zick will continue to coordinate with committee. Sauk County maps and guide books will be given as promo materials. Sign up/volunteer lists will be distributed at next county board meeting.
Arts & Culture: None.
Agents Monthly Reports
Denise Brusveen, Agriculture Agent - Brusveen reported on recent events such as Heart of the Farm, pasture walks, dairy facilities tour in March and Sauk County Ag Updates.
Lori Baumgart, WNEP: Baumgart reported on WNEP events such as the health fair at Reedsburg Westside Elementary. The health fair was in conjunction with Relay for Life.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Baraboo High School – Requested $500 for “Super Bowl” event. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Zowin to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to Marlys Greenhalgh/Baraboo High School. Motion carried.
2. River Valley Players – Requested $500 to fund vocal performance project. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to River Valley Players. Motion carried.
3. Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce – Requested $350 to fund chamber project. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $350 to Bianca Richards/SP Chamber of Commerce. Motion carried.
4. Baraboo Public Library: Requested $465 to fund library production. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $465 to Meg Allen/Baraboo Public Library. Motion carried.
