Minutes of the Regular Meeting
November 29, 2011

Members present: Judy Ashford, Don Nobs, Lester Wiese, Joan Smoke

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.

Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.

Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Smoke, second by Nobs to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the amended minutes of the regular meeting of October 27, 2011. Motion carried.

Public Comment
None

Communications
Communication from Rick Klemme regarding extension funding, Thank you was received from Kapp, SP Historical Society; Sauk Prairie Musical Committee and 4-H interview applicant.

Welcome
Joan Smoke was welcomed as our new committee member.
Christian Malsatzki was welcomed as interim 4-H, Youth Development Agent
Lisa Wenzel was welcomed as CNRED Agent-part time at 20% as a back-fill position. Jenny
Erickson is officially at 80%

Agents Monthly Reports
Both – Horticulture Educator reported on Reedsburg community garden which will be raised beds and Huber inmates may assist. Master gardener class will be finished this week. Get Ready, Get Set, Garden is in planning stages.
Danielle Varney – WNEP Educator yearly report distributed at last month’s meeting. Varney reviewed the Year End Report of FY11 Food Stamp Nutrition for Richland and Sauk Counties.

ACTION ITEM: Sauk Prairie Historical Society
Smart Board: Kapp requested support from committee at October meeting to purchase a Smart Board. Ashford shared second Smart Board quote with committee. Motion made by Nobs, second by Wiese to approve the purchase of a Smart Board in the amount of $3799. Motion carried.

Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: Motion was made by Smoke, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of October in the amount of $1,623.57. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: A motion was made by Nobs, second by Smoke to approve the vouchers for the month of October in the amount of $989.00. Motion carried.
o Update on Subscriptions: Zick reported that we use our subscriptions to pay for our membership renewal to WI Historical Society and Arts Wisconsin.

Updates/Reports
UW Extension:
o Interim 4-H Educator: Christian Malsatzki accepted the interim position and started employment on 11/14/11.
o Agriculture Agent position was a failed search. Extension will repost position after January 1st as a faculty position; it will not be posted as an interim position and this should help attract qualified candidates.
o 20% CNRED Educator: Lisa Wenzel accepted the part time position. This is only a one day a week position.
Arts & Culture: None

ACTION ITEM: Consider approval of resolution honoring Wormfarm Institute
Resolution “Honoring Wormfarm Institute for Innovative and Successful Fermentation Festival and Farm/Art DTour, October 2011” was reviewed by committee. A motion was made by Smoke, second by Nobs to adopt the resolution to be forwarded to the December 20 County Board meeting. Motion carried.

Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Sauk County Writer’s Club– Requested $500 to pay featured visiting poets. Motion made by Wiese, second by Smoke to approve the Good Idea Grant for $500.00 to the Sauk County Writer’s Club. Motion carried.
2. River Valley Middle School–Request $500 for a three day acting work shop. Motion made by Smoke, second by Wiese to approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to RVMS Shakespeare Group. Motion carried.
