Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda Amended
Motion made by Zowin, second by Wiese to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the amended minutes of the regular meeting of September 22, 2010. Motion carried.
Public Comment
Little Women is starting with the Baraboo Theatre Guild.
Communications
Correspondence was communicated by Nagelkerk.
Review Artistry and Landmarks Registry Website:
Lynn Zick gave a presentation to committee on the updated Artistry and Landmarks Registry Website.
Monthly Review and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: A motion was made by Zowin, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of September in the amount of $2,471.97. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: No vouchers to approve for the month of September. Budget report was reviewed.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension: Nagelkerk and Stehling are part of planning committee for the upcoming WACEC Conference on March 28-30, 2011 at the Concourse in Madison and will keep committee posted on progress.
-UW Colleges, UW Extension faculty, UW system leaders and the Special Regent Committee will be involved in the selection of the next Chancellor for UW Extension and UW Colleges. One of the candidates will be visiting the Sauk County Extension office on November 10. Committee members are encouraged to attend.
Arts & Culture: Ashford was unable to attend the required Wisconsin Arts Board Conference in Oneida.
Agent Monthly Reports
Jenny Erickson, CNRED Agent:
- First Impressions Program: Developed by UWEX to give communities a new perspective on their communities. Two communities are paired, in this case Prairie du Sac and Fort Atkinson and a detailed report was developed.
- Erickson is working with specialists to develop an economic impact assessment for the Madison to Reedsburg rail line.
Sue Nagelkerk, Family Living Educator:
- HCE: Bookworm program offered to Head Start children. Gasser Construction sponsored the book “Road Builders” and has made a generous contribution. They will also be participating in reading to 800 Sauk County children.
- Smithsonian Exhibit – HCE is volunteering time at the Reedsburg exhibit, Key Ingredients; they also have recipe trading cards available at Key Ingredients.
- Lunch and Learn programs have been offered by Nagelkerk for the last few weeks.
- National Health Care Plan – unbiased fact sheets will be available soon to help people understand.
- Working with Public Health in offering a educational event. An additional educational offering will be prescription drug and herion abuse.
Request to have Staff Retreat –
Extension team would like to host an all staff retreat at the Plain Library on November 2, 2010. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Wiese to approve the UW Extension all staff retreat on November 2, 2010. Motion carried.
2010 Agent Contract Amendment
Erickson discussed an Agent contract amendment. A motion was made by Ashford, second by Nobs to approve the 2010 agent contract amendment. Motion carried.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
- 3. Genevieve Davis – requested $200.00 that was previously denied in September 2010 application for lectures to empower local film makers (was granted $300.00 vs. $500.00 requested). Committee discussed speaking fee and additional documentation. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Wiese to approve the Good Idea Grant for the additional $200.00. Motion carried. Nay-Nobs
