Minutes of the Regular Meeting
December 23, 2010
Members present: Judy Ashford, Don Nobs, Lester Wiese, Donna Stehling

UWEX Staff Present: Jenny Erickson, Sue Nagelkerk and Denise Brusveen
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda Amended
Motion made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Nobs, second by Stehling to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of November 19, 2010. Motion carried.

Monthly Review and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of November in the amount of $2,072.77. Motion carried.
-Erickson reviewed end of year budget. Committee informed of highlights: postage reimbursed by individual programs; Salaries, permanent and regular is over budget due to unforeseen Lewis retirement payout of vacation/etc. in January 2010.
Arts & Culture: A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of November in the amount of $200.00. Motion carried.

Discussion/Approval of Annual Review Meeting Date with Dick Pederson for January 31, 2011.
-Discussed how to structure our annual report meeting with Dick and the Committee. Committee asked us each to prepare a 5-7 minute presentation highlighting extension accomplishments and impacts over the year. They also requested a brief document of highlights to distribute to the committee for reference. Committee will meet with Dick Pederson January 31.
Denise Brusveen, Agriculture Agent:
-Farm Transfer Workshop was held this month with good attendance from families. Brusveen will continue to provide support to farmers going through transfers. Speakers were available to discuss transfer law and tax information as well.
Special Project Idea Request –
-Nagelkerk described the importance of HCE (Home & Community Education) and requested support from the committee to fund set of the Hot Dish Trading Cards that will be used to promote HCE and its’ heritage. Donna Neuwirth will assemble a special HCE traveling exhibit to promote HCE with the proceeds from the sale of these cards. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the request for $500.00 from the Arts & Culture budget to fund the Hot Dish Trading Cards. Motion carried.
Review of Good Idea Grant Guidelines
-Ashford will be making reviewing/making recommendations to the current guidelines; postponed until February meeting.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Lee Gnatzig – Reapplication, requested $500.00 to determine the costs of bringing the local cemetery record keeping into the 21st century using the internet. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to deny the Good
Idea Grant for $500.00 due to lack of information and questions regarding sustainability and ownership of project. Motion carried.
