Members present: Judy Ashford, Donna Stehling, Lester Wiese, Don Nobs,

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Election of Officers
A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to nominate Judy Ashford as chairman.
A unanimous ballot for chairman was cast for Judy Ashford. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Stehling, second by Ashford to nominate Lester Wiese as vice chair.
A unanimous ballot for vice chair was cast for Lester Wiese. A motion was made by Ashford, second by Nobs. Motion carried
A motion was made by Ashford , second by Weise to nominate Donna Stehling as secretary. A unanimous ballot for secretary was cast for Donna Stehling. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Ashford. Motion carried.
Approval of Agenda Amended
Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of April 22, 2010. Motion carried.
Public Comment
Liz Nevers introduced Brian Eller, new Executive Director of Al Ringling Theatre.
Sauk County Historical Society reported on the photo contest results. A display of photo entries are located at the entrance of the West Square Building.

SAUK COUNTY UW EXTENSION
Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers (UW Extension)
A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of April in the amount of $52,918.58 Motion carried.
Agent Monthly Reports
Sue Nagelkerk, Family Living Educator – Nagelkerk reported that a research grant has been applied for to perform a jail study at the Sauk County Jail. A Family Living Specialist in Criminal Justice would perform the study and the research would be recognized nationally.
An Autism workshop will be held tonight by Nagelkerk with approximately 50 participants signed up to attend.
Out of State Travel
Denise Brusveen, Agriculture Agent would like to attend a conference out of state at no expense to the county. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the cost of out of state travel expenses. Motion carried.
WACEC State Conference (Milwaukee) & WACEC Southern District Conference in Lafayette County “Changing Demographics in the Southern Districts.”
Supervisors, Weise and Stehling are planning to attend the upcoming conferences to represent our group in Milwaukee. A bus is being offered to the Milwaukee conference if enough people are interested. Ashford will clarify if the county board needs to approve and report back to our committee.
Discussion of West Square Building Room Reservation Policy
Communication to committee regarding the implications the current policy has on the UW Extension staff because of the amount of room scheduling needed for upcoming trainings and programs offered within Extension. Communication with Tim Stieve, EMBS was recommended.
New Goals and Objectives for Budget Form I
Nagelkerk asked committee to share any educational programs or issues facing our county that they feel need to be addressed in our programming. We will discuss ideas at our next meeting.
Review 4-H Youth Development Educator Position Description
Committee wanted to clarify position description is for both 4-H Youth AND Youth development within Sauk County. Suggested adding programming offered to diverse populations.

A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to approve Sandy Miskowiak-Larsen move from 60% to 100% on June 1, 2010 as Interim 4-H and Youth Development Agent. Motion carried.
Discussion and possible action to authorize the UW Cooperative Extension to search for a full-time Faculty Tract 4-H Youth Development Educator
A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to authorize UW Cooperative Extension to post/search for a full-time Faculty Tract 4-H Youth Development Educator. Motion carried.
ARTS & CULTURE
Monthly Report/Review and Approval of Vouchers
A motion was made by Nobs, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of April in the amount of $41,980.00. Motion carried.
Reports
Stehling reported that Community Asset Panels are being displayed in the lower level of the West Square Building.
Update on Grant Process
Committee discussed options for monies left in the grant fund. Monies will be used on an
as needed basis.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Al Ringling Theatre Friends- requested $475.00 to help premier the independent film “Baraboo” at the Al Ringling Theatre. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $475.00 to the Al Ringling Theatre Friends. Motion carried.
2. Sauk County Historical Society – requested $500.00 to fund a new brochure promoting the Sauk County Historical Museum. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $500.00 to the SCHS. Motion carried.
3. Jeffrey Brandt – requested $500.00 to develop photos and publish a book entitled “Fire and EMS in Sauk County”. Committee denied the request in the amount of $500.00. More information is needed and grant will be reconsidered. A. How will book be distributed?
B. How was cost determined? C. Number of copies being published? D. Are fire departments supporting or sponsoring book?
4. Maria Askey – requested $500.00 for the rental of a tent to house the “Taste of the Time” at this year’s Civil War Encampment in Sauk Prairie. Relay for Life team will prepare the food.
A motion was made by Wiese, second by Ashford to approve the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $500.00 to the Sauk Prairie Relay for Life team.
