Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the amended agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Nobs, second by Stehling to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of September 22, 2011. Motion carried.

Communications
Thank you for WCA, Wisconsin Counties Association plaque presented to committee,
Sauk County will host again in 2014; River Arts Inc. newsletter shared
ACTION ITEM: Recommendation to court regarding appointment of Sauk County Drainage Board member to fill the expired term of Tony Garrelts
Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the recommendation to the courts of Tony Garrelts, Gerald Lehman and David Allen. Motion carried.
ACTION ITEM: Extension of the grant time period and for committee to consider possible funding for the Bradford Bison project
Renovation project may take longer than anticipated. Kapp, Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society requesting extension of grant. Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the extension of the Bradford Bison grant to May 31, 2012.
Smart Board: Kapp also requested support from committee to purchase a Smart Board which will be included in the renovation project. Quote shared; waiting on second quote.
A. Anderson endowment will contribute to part of the cost. Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve contribution for a Smart Board up to a cost of $3799. Motion carried.
Kapp will present committee with an update at the November meeting.
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: Motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of September in the amount of $62,569.78. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to approve the vouchers for the month of September in the amount of $598.60. Motion carried.
o Update on Subscriptions: Zick reported that we use our subscriptions to pay for our membership renewal to WI Historical Society and Arts Wisconsin.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension:
o 2012 State WACEC Conference will be June 25-26, 2012 at Lambeau field.
o Update on 4-H and Agriculture Interim positions: Agriculture position will be reposted; Interim 4-H Educator: Christian Malsatzki accepted the interim position and will be starting employment on 11/14/11.
Arts & Culture:
o Meeting with NEA Chairman, Rocco Landesman and Workfarm on November 15, 2011. Committee members interested in attending; special meeting will be posted.
o Fall Art Tour – Al Anderson reported on a successful event. Statistics from their new website presented.
o Community Representative, Dale Loomis has resigned from the UW Arts and Culture Committee due to conflicts in meeting time/dates.
o Annual reporting to WI Arts Board – Ashford listened to phone conference regarding program updates and suggestions:
-grant amounts will decrease by 35% which will affect 2013 grants
-Suggest form for projects that are not fully funded to determine if project will be completed
-Awards ceremony or press release announcing grants
-Goal to grant all monies
-Online application process
-Fermentation Fest Evaluation: Ashford will draft a resolution to present to county board and committee including economic impacts
Agents Monthly Reports
Nagelkerk - Family Living Educator reported on collaboration with UW Baraboo Campus,Spanish instructor on reading Spanish books to Head Start children.
Danielle Varney – WNEP Educator yearly report distributed; will report at November meeting after committee reviews
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Lake States Railway Historical Assoc.– Requested $489 to purchase mailing tubes for collection copies ordered via internet. Motion made by Wiese , second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant for $489.00 to Lake States Railway Hist. Assoc. Motion carried.
2. Sauk Pr. Theatre Guild–Request $500 for costume costs. Motion made by Wiese, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to SP Theatre Guild. Motion carried.
