Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Dietz, second by Peterson to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Peterson, second by Dietz to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 18, 2015. Motion carried.

Communications:
- Wisconsin Rural Partners announced their Five Exemplary Projects and two of them are from Sauk County:
- Baraboo Big Top Parade (Baraboo Chamber of Commerce)
- Fermentation Fest (Wormfarm Institute)
- Letter to the Editor in the Baraboo News Republic written by Judy Spring on the arts grant program
- Baraboo News Republic article on the City of Baraboo Mural Project
- Letter from Wisconsin Historical Society regarding Spellman Granite Company (Sauk City) being considered for state and national Registry of Historic Places
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers:
Motion was made by Dietz, second by Stehling to approve the UW Extension vouchers for the month of March in the amount of $15,463.51. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Dietz, second by Stehling to approve the Arts & Culture vouchers for the month of March in the amount of $28,783.00. Motion carried.
Department Updates:
- Sue Nagelkerk announced that she will be teaching Powerful Tools for Caregivers with Cassidy Walsh from the Health Department for the next six weeks in Spring Green.
- She also has 32 child care providers registered for The Civility Code training on Saturday, April 18th.
- Donna Stehling talked about the RAP program and would like to encourage artists to submit their stories.
Discussion and Possible Action on Hiring a 20% CNRED Backfill Position
Lisa Wenzel, who has been in Jenny Erickson’s backfill position for the last few years will be leaving to take a new position in June. Jenny will be done at the Local Government Center as of July 1, 2015, but she is not yet ready to return to her UW Extension CNRED Agent Position full-time. She is requesting that the department be approved to hire a 20% backfill position to keep the CNRED position at 100% time.
Motion by Stehling, second by Dietz to move forward with refilling the backfill position; position duties to make sure to include Fermentation Fest and SCIL programming. Motion carried.
Presentation of 2014 Wisconsin Arts Board Regranting Grant Final Report/2015 Regranting Grant Application
Lynn Zick talked about the Wisconsin Arts Board Regranting Grant Final Report is also the Application for the next year’s regranting grant. Copies of the submission that was made to WAB on April 8th were submitted to the committee for them to read.
Agents’ Reports:
Danielle Sander: With the change of meeting date for the committee, Danielle Sander was no longer available to give her agent report in person; therefore, she submitted a written report for the committee.
Katie Pfeiffer, Agriculture: Katie Pfeiffer talked about the different programs that she has been a part of in the last few weeks and showed slides of her trip to Nicaragua for the Farmer-to-Farmer program in March.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
- CAL Center Presents: CAL Center Presents has requested $500 for their Shawndell Marks concert on April 25, 2015. Discussion ensued with differing opinions about the amount of involvement there will be as referenced by the statement in the application, “She plans future song writing workshops held once per month, with some designated for youth ages 8 to 15 years old.” Motion by Stehling, second by Dietz to approve $500 for the Shawndell Marks concert with the statement that CAL Center be notified that their application was not clear. Motion carried.
