Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 24, 2011. Motion carried.
Public Comment
Paul Wolter introduced Rebecca Dubey, new SC Historical Society curator.
Communications
-Ashford asked that committee members bring their mailed agenda and materials to meetings to save on paper copies.
-Nagelkerk communicated received correspondence.
Karen Crossley, Director of Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission
Crossley discussed Dane Counties grant process, projects and ideas used to advocate the arts. She expressed the value of arts and humanities to communities large and small. They are looking to change their funding model because need to diversify; suggested target grants or joint ventures. Recommended web sites: artsboard.com and artswisconsin.com
Update on New Badger Partnership vs. WI Idea Partnership; Tom Pleger, Dean UW Baraboo/Sauk County
Pleger communicated that UW Extension is unique because Extension is a stand alone institution within the UW system. The New Badger Partnership has the potential to jeopardize access to specialists and increase fringe benefit rates.
Wiese proposed that committee present a resolution to support the WI Idea Partnership.
A Special Meeting will be held prior to the next County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 – 5:45PM - ETN Room – 3rd floor of the West Square Building.
Request to Reconsider Fully Funding the International Clown Hall of Fame AHHP
DeSanto presented budget to clarifiy questions the committee had when considering their grant application. Ashford explained “In kind” contributions must be presented to the committee by May 9th for the committee to reconsider fully funding the grant request.
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: A motion was made by Zowin, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of March in the amount of $6,978.38. Motion carried.
Impact to UW Extension due to changes in state budget: Erickson stated that fringe benefit rates would increase to 44%. With 11% state wide cut; county would not see the change for approximately two years. July 1, 2011 is the end of the mandated furlough days.
Arts & Culture: A motion was made by Zowin, second by Nobs to approve the vouchers for the month of March in the amount of $548.11. Motion carried.

Arts & Culture: Update given by Ashford on NEA Grant for Wormfarm Institute, Donna Neuwirth.
Agents Monthly Review
-Phyllis Both, Horticulture Educator: Transportation is no longer available for Huber Inmates to help Master Gardeners with projects due to cost.
-Reedsburg has not established an area for community gardening. Committee recommended a “letter to the editor” to make residents aware of the issue.
-Sue Nagelkerk, FLE: Nagelkerk shared information on the “Good Drugs Gone Bad” lunch n learn that was held in April regarding the problems associated with prescription drugs in Sauk and other counties.
Alice in Dairyland Scholarship Recommendations:
Denise Brusveen, Agriculture Agent reviewed and recommended three (3) recipients to recieve Alice in Dairyland scholarships. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Zowin to approve recipients; Kimberly Evert, Austin Sandmire and Sara Raschein to each receive $500. Motion carried.
WCA Conference Involvement
The Wisconsin Counties Association will be meeting September 25-27 at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells. An idea for the welcoming table and volunteers are needed.

Ticket/meal: Wiese and Nobs
Welcome table idea will be focused around Sauk County state parks; it is the centennial year for Devil’s Lake. Suggested to contact Diane Pillsbury for Devil’s Lake pictures, etc.
Committee will continue to plan at next meeting.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. SCHS – Requested $370 to fund upgrade museum software program. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $370 to Sauk County Historical Society, Paul Wolter. Motion carried.
2. Reedsburg Area Historical Society – Requested $500 to fund the preservation of artifacts for education. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to Reedsburg Area Historical Society, Barb Steinhorst. Motion carried.
3. River Arts Inc. – Requested $500 to fund a feasibility study for an art gallery and cooperative in Sauk Prairie. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Nobs to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to River Arts, Inc. B Tracy Madison. Motion carried.
4. Ferry Bluff Eagle Council – Requested $500 to fund a feasibility study for an art gallery and cooperative in Sauk Prairie. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Nobs to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to River Arts, Inc. B Tracy Madison. Motion carried.
5. Sauk Prairie River Projects, Ltd. - Requested $500 to fund a feasibility study for an art gallery and cooperative in Sauk Prairie. A motion was made by Zowin, second by Nobs to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to River Arts, Inc. B Tracy Madison. Motion carried.
