Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Nobs, second by Wiese to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of April 25, 2011. Motion carried.
Motion made by Nobs, second by Wiese to approve the minutes of the special meeting of May 17, 2011. Motion carried.
Public Comment
Paul Wolter updated committee on SC Historical Society photo contest results. Entries were down, so will publicize more to increase participation in contest next year. Suggestion was made to make 4-H photography members aware of this contest.
Communications
None.
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: Erickson reviewed budget.
A motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the vouchers for the month of April in the amount of $2,368.51. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: Erickson reviewed budget. Good Idea Grant budget numbers are incorrect; Erickson will follow up with accounting and clarify.
A motion was made by Nobs, second by Wiese to approve the vouchers for the month of April in the amount of $25,745. Motion carried.
UW Extension, Arts & Culture Program and Priorities Review:
UW Extension program and priorities were reviewed in detail; emphasizing the involvement Extension has other county departments and committees to help them meet their mandates. UWEX programs are always evolving. Some of goals are unplanned due to the need to respond to situations as they arise.
Arts & Culture program and priorities were reviewed in detail. Discussion on effects the state cuts would have on this program. Suggested including in the program and priorities report that AHHP grant money is county matched.
Bach requested that committee work on different priorities and plan for these situations.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension: WCA Conference, Welcome booth planning – The theme for the Sauk County reception table will revolve around the 100th Anniversary of Devil’s Lake. Rough budgetary figures were reviewed. Planning is on-going and committee will be kept up-to-date. Wiese and Nobs both volunteered to help in other areas if necessary.
Arts & Culture: None.
Agents Monthly Reports
-Jenni Walsh, 4-H and Youth Development - Walsh is working with youth on a new project called Engaging Youth, Serving Communities (EYSC). This USDA national grant was awarded to 5 counties. EYSC is partnering with Sauk Prairie High School to research and identify community issues and implement an action plan.
-Jenni Erickson, CNRED: Erickson reported on Baraboo Market Analysis project. Bill Ryan, UWEX specialist is assisting Erickson with this analysis. Sub groups report in June on research.
Consideration of Funding of 2011 AHHP Grants
1. International Clown Hall of Fame: Revised budget was reviewed. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to Approve to fully fund AHHP grant in the amount of $3800. Motion carried.
2. River Arts: Revised budget was reviewed. Questioning evidence of in kind services and added funds to balance budget. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to keep the panel recommendation to Approve to partially fund AHHP grant in the amount of $2,500. Motion carried.
3. Village of Sauk City: Revised budget was reviewed. Committee requests a letter to village stating the need to become self-funded. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Ashford to Approve to partially fund AHHP grant in the amount of $1325. Motion carried.
4. Sauk County Honors Music: Revised budget was reviewed. Committee requests a letter stating the need to become self-funded. A motion was made by Ashford, second by Stehling to Approve to fully fund AHHP grant in the amount of $1750. Motion carried.
Sauk County Landmarks Registry Designation- Harrisburg School, Town of Troy
Resolution was presented to add the Harrisburg School, Town of Troy, to the Sauk County Landmarks Registry Designation. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to Approve adding the Harrisburg School, Town of Troy, to the Sauk County Landmarks Registry Designation. Motion carried.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. Weston School District – Requested $500 to fund calendars. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to Weston School District, Cindi Weller-Pfaff. Motion carried.
2. Old Franklin Township Historical Society – Requested $500 to fund the preservation of OFTHS. A motion was made by Nobs, second by Stehling to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to OFTHS, Kenneth L. Kraemer. Motion carried.
3. Paul Schonfeld. – Requested $500 to fund project with the Reedsburg Public Library. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Wiese to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to Paul Schonfeld. Motion carried.
4. River Valley High School – Requested $500 to fund an arts and crafts display. A motion was made by Wiese, second by Stehling to Approve the Good Idea Grant for $500 to RVHS, Jan von Stein. Motion carried.
5. Christine Junkins-Morey: Requested $500 to fund a learn to sew program in Sauk Prairie area. Defer. Committee is asking applicant to resubmit grant for clarification on ownership of the sewing machines and better budget detail, including vendor and cost of machines. Suggested the grant request be resubmitted from the Sauk Prairie School District.
