Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:03 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Dietz, second by Peterson to approve the agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Hambrecht, second by Dietz to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of August 13, 2014. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
None
Communications:
- A thank you was received from the Baraboo Public Library for the receipt of a Good Idea Grant.
- The Flyways Waterfowl Museum sent a thank you for the receipt of a Good Idea Grant that also further explained what they hope to accomplish.
- The Sauk Prairie Historical Society’s newsletter was received and highlights of upcoming programming was announced.
Review 2014 Budget and Approval of Vouchers:
UW Extension: Motion was made by Hambrecht, second by Peterson to approve the UW Extension vouchers for the month of August an in the amount of $2,187.08 and also the vouchers for Arts & Culture in the amount of $1,150.00. Motion carried.
There is one outstanding invoice for the second place winner of the photo contest which will be paid when his W-9 form is returned to Accounting.
Sue gave an update of the three funding sources for Extension and their projected budgets for 2015.
Update of 2015 Budget Process:
Sue and Jenny met with the Administrative Review team on the 2015 budget and reported that there were no questions on the increases. The budget now goes to the Finance Committee and they will meet with Finance on Wednesday, September 24th, at 1:00 PM.
Discussion and Possible Action on a Request for Out-of-State Travel for Meg Sage to Attend the NAE4-HA Conference in Minneapolis, MN on October 26-30, 2014
Meg Sage is currently on a National Association of Extension 4-H Agents committee and will be attending their national conference on October 26-30, 2014. She is requesting authorization to travel out-of-state to attend the conference; there will no charge to Sauk County for mileage, food, or lodging. Motion by Dietz, second by Hambrecht to approve Meg Sage’s request for out-of-state travel to attend the NAE4-HA Conference in Minneapolis, MN. Motion carried.
Discussion and Possible Action on 205 AHHP Grant Application and Panel Evaluation Forms
The current application used for the Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation (AHHP) grant process was looked at and suggestions were made to make the application easier to understand and use. Donna Neuwirth gave her input from the view of a 501 (C) 3 organization that has filled out the form numerous times.
Lynn Zick and John Dietz will take a look at the budget reporting pages of the application and hopefully, will use the budget portion of a National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) grant application as an example.
The suggestion was made to contact members of the panels that use the Panel Evaluation Forms to get their input for any changes that they would like to see made.
Agents Monthly Reports
Katie Pfeiffer, Agriculture: Katie gave a review of the programs, projects or events that she has been involved with recently, and she went into greater depth and showed pictures of the Managed Grazing classes she is working on with Randy Zogbaum and also the agricultural plastics recycling program.
Sue Nagelkerk, Family Living: Sue talked about the upcoming Lunch –n- Learn on October 28, 2014, at which Dr. Julie Poehlmann will present her findings from the Young Children of Jailed Parents research study conducted in Sauk, Racine and Dane Counties. She also reported that she will once again be working in cross-programming when she presents at the Midwest Manure Haulers’ Symposium in January 2015.
