Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Chair Ashford.
Certification of Open Meeting Notice
Requirements of the Open Meeting Law were met.
Approval of Agenda
Motion made by Wiese, second by Smoke to approve the amended agenda. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting
Motion made by Smoke, second by Wiese to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 22, 2012. Motion carried.

Communications
o Nagelkerk shared correspondence from Sauk Prairie Historical Society
o Erickson shared pictures of smart board that was purchased by the Sauk Prairie Historical Society
Review Budget and Approval of Vouchers
UW Extension: 2011 budget had significant savings; approximately $15,000 which was returned to county due to open agriculture position and 4-H agent position. 2012 budget was reviewed to date; noted the payout of agent contracts. Motion was made by Smoke, second by Stehling to approve the vouchers for the month of February in the amount of $35,602.49. Motion carried.
Arts & Culture: 2011 and 2012 budgets were reviewed; carry forward of approximately $4,300 to 2012. A motion was made by Stehling, second by Nobs to approve the vouchers for the month of February in the amount of $500. Motion carried.
Discussion/Action on Sauk County Historical Society Photo Contest
Schuette discussed future of Historic Preservation Photo Contest. There has been a decrease of entries over the past couple years. Options were discussed as follows: 1. continue for one year, 2. discontinue, or 3. open up to 4-H/FFA Clubs and put an emphasis on youth to participate as well as the general public. Committee agreed to select option 3. Contest will be publicized in 4-H newsletters and to FFA advisors as well as general public. Entries will be cut back to 3 per person and extend the due date to June 1st. No action.
Updates/Reports
UW Extension:
o Farewell to Lester Wiese
o Agriculture position posting is closed. Erickson will continue to work with UW Extension on this process.
o 4-H Agent position is interim. Erickson is working with UWEX to speed up the process.
o Gene Dalhoff, Executive Director of Sauk County Development Corp. was chosen to receive the Wisconsin Idea Award. Erickson will announce at the UWEX Conference in Stevens Point, WI
o Demographics – Nagelkerk shared map of changing population across the state.
o Budget update from Mr. Klemme; federal Smith-Lever funding will be slightly less
o June 19th prior to Sauk County Board meeting there will be custard from Culvers to celebrate 100th UWEX Anniversary and welcome new members to committee.

Discussion/Action on approval using carry forward monies to support Wormfarm Institute/Farm Art DTour
Much discussion. Motion was made by Stehling, second by Smoke to approve use of 2011 carry forward monies of approximately $4,300 for Wormfarm Institute/Farm Art DTour support. Motion carried.
UW Extension Staff Monthly Reports – J. Erickson
Erickson explained her role as facilitator for the Wormfarm Institute as being objective.
She continues to work with Spring Green residents regarding their drinking water issues. Recently a meeting was held with UWEX specialists to discuss next steps and resources available.
Discussion/Action on possible funding of UW Baraboo Campus Sauk Co. AHHP Grant
Resubmitted as requested by AHHP panel. Motion made by Stehling, second by Wiese to approve the AHHP grant in the full amount of $4,910 to the UW Baraboo/Sauk County Campus. Motion carried.
Discussion/Action on possible funding of 2012 AHHP Grants
Humanities & Historic Preservation Grant evaluation panel minutes of March 13, 2012 special meeting were reviewed.
The following changes were made by the committee:
-Taliesin Preservation, Inc. – increase to $1,000
-UW Baraboo Campus Sauk County – award full amount of $4,910
A motion was made by Nobs, second by Stehling to approve the AHHP grants as determined by the committee. Motion carried.
Arts Grant evaluation panel minutes the March 13, 2012 special meeting were reviewed.
The following changes were made by the committee:
-Baraboo Public Library – requested $4,500; award $2,000
-Sauk Prairie Area Chamber – increase to $3,700
A motion was made by Stehling, second by Smoke to approve the AHHP grants as determined by the committee. Motion carried.
Consideration of Applications for Good Idea Grants
1. City of Wisconsin Dells & Lake Delton Parks/Rec Dept.– Requested $495.35 to fund Kidz Klub after school and summer day camp program supplies. Smoke stated the program will start in April and has registrations. Motion was made by Smoke, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant for $495.35. Motion carried.
2. Sauk Prairie Riverway Concerts- Requested $500 for summer concert series; did not apply for major grant. Motion made by Wiese, second by Smoke to approve on the Good Idea Grant for $500 to Sauk Prairie Riverway Concerts. Motion carried.
3. Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center – Requested $500 to fund music educator. Program not held in Sauk County; not eligible for mini grant. Motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to deny the Good Idea Grant for $500. Motion carried.
4. Baraboo High School/Visual Arts – Requested $500 for “Souper Bowls” event. Motion was made by Stehling, second by Smoke to approve Good Idea Grant for $500. Motion carried.
5. Durward’s Glen – Requested $500 for events at Durward’s Glen. Program not held in Sauk County; not eligible. Motion made by Wiese, second by Smoke to deny the Good Idea Grant for $500. Motion carried.
6. CAL Center Presents – Requested $500 to fund Lunchbox Superstars. Motion was made by Wiese, second by Nobs to approve the $500 Good Idea Grant with the stipulation that monies will be returned if program is not held due to lack of financial support. Motion carried.
7. Reedsburg Area Historical Society- Requested $500 to fund artifact displays. Motion was made by Nobs, second by Stehling to approve the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $500. Motion carried.
8. Nancy Peidelstein – Requested $500 to fund exhibit materials for Wisconsin Effect display. Motion was made by Nobs, second by Smoke to deny the Good Idea Grant in the amount of $500. Motion carried.
