VICTIMS FOCUS COMMITTEE- SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM & DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE TEAM WORKING GROUPS MEETING

 

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2022 AT 2:00PM                           VIRTUAL MEETING VIA ZOOM

 

  1. Call Meeting to Order

The meeting was called to order and certification of Open Meeting compliance was given at 2:02p.m.

Motion by R. Spoentgen, second by P. Rego to adopt agenda. Motion carried.

No minutes were taken. A brief summary of the meeting was provided.

  1. Trends and/or Concerns

Rick shared that violent crimes are up statewide and county wide. Also, that trials are being set heavily and their office is feeling the pressure

  1. Discuss previous experiences with case reviews- good, bad, suggestions for what to keep or change
  1. Conversations about case reviews and that there was the desire to resume them.
  2. Discussed the need for clear understand of each of our roles and limitations within those roles
  3. Shared the existing case review form.
  4. Open to in-person meetings every other month
  5. DA’s office, HH or PD’s picked but only cases that were closed, some dismissed and no proc. Cases too.
  6. Discussed need to have more PD’s involved. Jaime and Rick will connect about adding additional PD’s.
  7. Marcy’s law was discussed. Dani from HH shared.
  8. Cases were identified as they closed/resolved.
  1. Next meeting date and agenda items:

Wednesday, March 9. Agenda will be to finalize a case review tool.
