Minutes of Meeting
Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee
July 12, 2011
The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 09:30 AM.
2. Agenda: Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
3. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Johnson approve the minutes from previous meetings on June 14, 2011. Motion carried.

7. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
Animal Shelter took in 52 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 42 dogs. They also took in 92 cats and adopted out 40 in the month of June.
The Animal Shelter had a total of 45 calls and picked up 19 dogs and 20 cats
The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 17 bite cases; 11 dogs and 5 cats. One dog bit two people.
The Animal Shelter will be having an adopt-a-thon at Pierces Market on August 20th.
8. Review and approve June 2011, expenses for Coroner:
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for June 2011, in the amount of $2,239.18. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
9. Review and approve June 2011, expenses for Sheriff:
Motion by Halfen, seconded by Tollaksen, to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for June 2011 in the amount of $100,192.32. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
10. Consideration of a Resolution honoring Margo Busser
Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Tollaksen. Motion carried.
11. Update on 2011 Budget Overrun.
Sheriff Meister described each paragraph individually explaining to members. Memo handed out to Committee. At this time the Sheriff believes that he will be able come close if not meet budget.
12. Discussion on Park Ranger Position.
Sheriff Meister put this on the Agenda to inform his Committee that the Parks Department would like to have a Park Ranger. The Sheriff stated he wouldn’t have a problem deputizing him.
13. Sheriff’s Report.
Number of Calls Report handed out. 6,307 calls for service in June 2011
Overtime for June 2011 2,104.50 hrs
Deputy Dan Johnson resigned on June 29, 2011.
Civil Process 220 papers served in June 2011.
There was 71 Prisoner Transports in June 2011.
Prisoner Transport cost and housing costs for Juveniles was $2,281.30 for transport and $3,850.00 for housing for June 2011.
Electronic monitoring billed out $5,255.00 and paid Pro Tech $1,705.75 for a profit of $3,549.25 in the month of June. There was 309 offender days.
Year to date billing for Housing inmates is $349,740.12
Community Service Hours for 2011 Year to date are 7,572.75 hours
Copy of Inmate Community Service Release and Hold Harmless Agreement handed out.
Year to date budget report handed out.
Sinklair requested to start having night meetings.
14. Adjournment
The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for August 9, 2011 at 09:30 am. Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Tollaksen, to adjourn the meeting at 11:10 am. Motion Carried.
