Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee
June 14, 2011
The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 09:45 am, in the Sauk County Training Center, E8795B Evergreen Rd, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.
Members Present: Stevens, Johnson, Tollaksen, Sinklair, Halfen

1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by Chair Donald Stevens at 09:45 AM.
2. Agenda: Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
Halfen requested to have budget discussions in future agendas.
3. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Tollaksen approve the minutes from previous meetings on May 10, 2011. Motion carried.

T. Kriegl had a handout from TIME magazine.
T. Kriegl discussed a Wisconsin Counties Magazine Article reference a future seminar
T. Kriegl discussed a National Counties Magazine Article reference prison population.
Discussion between Stevens and Kriegl reference Jail populations versus prison populations.

7. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:
Animal Shelter took in 50 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 56 dogs. They also took in 85 cats and adopted out 35 in the month of May.
The Animal Shelter had a total of 37 calls and picked up 15 dogs and 17 cats
The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 7 bite cases; 3 dogs and 4 cats.
8. Review and approve May 2011, expenses for Coroner:
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Johnson, to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for May 2011, in the amount of $6,533.36. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
9. Review and approve May 2011, expenses for Sheriff:
Motion by Halfen, seconded by Tollaksen, to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for May 2011 in the amount of $100,369.37. Bills discussed. Motion carried.
10. Consideration of a Resolution honoring Louise Crisman
Motion by Tollaksen, seconded by Halfen. Motion carried.
11. Sheriff’s Report.
Number of Calls Report handed out. 6,152 calls for service in May 2011
Overtime for May 2011 1,443.25 hrs
Margo Busser announced her retirement for July 7
Jeremy Mammos resigned as of June 9, 2011.
Civil Process 220 papers served in May 2011
There was 80 Prisoner Transports in May 2011.
Prisoner Transport cost and housing costs for Juveniles was $2,312.81 for transport and $5,590.00 for housing for May 2011.
Electronic monitoring billed out $6,496.00 and paid Pro Tech $2,107.25 for a profit of $4,388.75 in the month of May. There was 382 offender days.
Huber inmates are currently working at the Community Garden
GED/HSED earned in the Jail from 2005 to 2011 GED-31 HSED-40
Huber inmate was approved to work part time while at Huber Center.
Year to date budget report handed out.
Committee would like to see a draft of possible savings for the July meeting.

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for July 12, 2011 at 09:30 am. Motion by Sinklair, seconded by Halfen, to adjourn the meeting at 11:35 am. Motion Carried.
