Minutes of Meeting

Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

May 10, 2016

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        B. Wenzel, J. Deitrich, C. Lehman, W. Czuprynko, T. Kriegl

Others Present:            R. Meister, J. Machovec, L. Lange, M. Stoddard, J. Spencer, D. Moore, J. Fordham, H. Netzinger

 

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Czuprynko seconded by Deitrich to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Deitrich seconded by Czuprynko to approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) April 12, 2016.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Election of Committee Officers.

Moved by Wenzel seconded by Deitrich to have Chair of Wenzel, Vice Chair of Deitrich and Secretary of Lehman Motion Carried.

 

  1. Set Committee Meeting Time and Day.

  1. Discussion and Viewing of Armored Vehicles.

Committee had the opportunity to view the MRAP from Columbia County as well as the Bear Cat from Dane County.  Following the viewing Tom Stankey of Dane County and Chief Deputy Babcock of Columbia County answered questions from the Committee.

 

  1. Communications:

            Thank you from Care Wisconsin for assistance with Dungarvin Call.

            Thank you from Steve Collins for Law Enforcements Profession.

            Beverly Weidling sent a thank card for medical assistance to her husband.

            Mr. Holmes sent a letter thanking us for our service.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update and budget presentation:

Animal Shelter took in 39 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 45 dogs.  They also took in 97 cats and adopted out/transferred out 17 in the month of April. The Animal Shelter also took in 1 chicken and 1 hamster. They adopted out 1 chicken, 3 guinea pigs and 2 parakeets. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 12 bite cases 10 dogs and 2 cats. They responded to 18 calls and impounded 3 dogs and 7 cats.

 

  1. Review and approve April 2016, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Deitrich seconded by Czuprynko to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for April 2016 in the amount of $4,265.34.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve April 2016, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Czuprynko seconded by Deitirch to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for April 2016, in the amount of $122,893.06. Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Monthly update on CJCC.

Discussion to implement various ideas such as Community Service

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

  1. Adjournment

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 04:15pm. Motion by Deitrich seconded by Czuprynko to adjourn the meeting at 11:11 am. Motion Carried.
