Minutes of Meeting

Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

March 8, 2016

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

                        Members Present:        B. Wenzel, J. Deitrich, C. Lehman, M. Dent, D. Moore

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Deitrich seconded by Moore to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman to approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) February 9, 2016.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Communications:

            - Letter from WIS DOT informing us of a Seat Belt grant awarded to us for $10,000.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update and budget presentation:

Animal Shelter took in 29 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 31 dogs.  They also took in 77 cats and adopted out/transferred out 59 in the month of February. The Animal Shelter also took in 2 guinea pigs and 2 rabbits. They adopted out 1 ferret. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 4 bite cases 3 dogs and 1 cat. They responded to 26 calls and impounded 7 dogs, 17 cats.

 

 

  1. Review and approve February 2016, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Deitrich seconded by Moore to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for February 2016 in the amount of $1,233.25.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

 

  1. Review and approve February 2016, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Moore seconded by Deitrich to approve payment of the Sheriff’s expenses for February 2016, in the amount of $39,565.08. Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1.       Consideration of travel request in excess of 300 miles for staff member to attend National Police Memorial Week in Washington D.C.  Motion by Dent, seconded by Moore.  Motion carried.

 

  1.       Consideration of travel request in excess of 300 miles for staff member to attend The End Violence Against Women International Conference in Washington D.C. Motion by Dent, seconded by Moore.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Monthly update on CJCC.

Drug Court started in January.  Currently we have 3 participants.  The 3 participants are doing well and have started working some community service.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

     

            Calls for Service for February 5,286 calls up 1,014 calls from 2015

                       

Overtime hours for February 2015 664.25 hours

Overtime hours for February 2016 911 hours-Jail Vacancies and Jail Sick leave

           

 

Prisoner Transports for February– 68 Transports

            6 Juveniles transported for February

            Juvenile Transport cost was $2,250.87

            Juvenile Housing Cost was $2,135.00

Collected 6,698 and invoiced $1,752.35. 

Difference of $4,945.65

Overall housing billing YTD-$124,214.83

 

           

           

14. Adjournment

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 09:30 am. Motion by Dent seconded by Deitrich to adjourn the meeting at 10:11 am. Motion Carried.
