Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee

January 13, 2015

            The regular meeting of the Sauk County Law Enforcement Committee was held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 09:30 am, in the Community Room, 1300 Lange Court, Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The meeting was properly posted and all interested parties were notified.

  1. Call to Order and Certification of Open Meeting Law: The meeting was called to order and compliance with the Open Meeting Law was certified by William Wenzel at 9:30 am.

 

  1. Agenda:  Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.

 

  1. Election of Secretary. Motion by Deitrich, seconded by Lehman to approve Michelle Dent as secretary.  Motion Carried.

 

  1. Approve minutes of Previous Meeting(s): Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman approve the minutes from previous meeting(s) December 9, 2014.  Motion carried.

  1. Sauk County Animal Shelter operations update:

Animal Shelter took in 56 dogs and adopted/reclaimed 40 dogs.  They also took in 90 cats and adopted out/transferred out 42 in the month of December. The Animal Shelter also took 4 rabbits and adopted out 2 rabbits and 3 guinea pigs. The Animal Shelter dealt with a total of 7 bite cases; 6 cats. They responded to 33 calls and impounded 27 dogs and 15 cats.

           

  1. Review and approve December 2014, expenses for Coroner:

Motion by Lehman seconded by Deitrich to approve payment of the Coroner’s expenses for December 2014, in the amount of $15,133.80.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

  1. Review and approve December 2014, expenses for Sheriff:

Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman to approve payment of the Sheriff’s Department expenses for December 2014 in the amount of $92,940.33.  Bills discussed. Motion carried.

 

 

  1. Monthly update on CJCC.

Sheriff Meister gave an update on the current status of CJCC. They are currently collecting data to help change the process of reoffending.

The court case management is working on a court notification process to inform those that have court so they don’t miss or forget about court.

 

  1. Sheriff’s Report.

 

            Calls for Service for December 4,921 calls

                       

Overtime hours for December 2013 1,707.50 hours

Overtime hours for December 2014 2,491.25 hours  (open shifts in Jail and holiday pay)

Year to date we are down.  2013 we had 13,517 hours we are down 207.5 to 13,309.50.

 

Prisoner Transports for December– 98 Transports

            10 Juveniles transported for December

            Juvenile Transport cost was $3,350.48 Housing Cost was $6,665.00

EM Report for December 679 offender days 

Collected $11,543 and invoiced $2,593.78

Difference of $8,949.22

 

 

YTD Housing Billing $714,690.14

 

Advised committee that next month we would be requesting travel outside of 300 miles for a Deputy to attend the Police Remembrance Week in Washington DC.

 

 

11. Adjournment

The next regular meeting of the committee was scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 09:30 am. Motion by Deitrich seconded by Lehman to adjourn the meeting at 9:58 am. Motion Carried.
